About the Anderson Family

Sasha, Johanna, Bill, Alex and Habtamu

Leah, Anderson, Russell and Hadley

We are the Andersons!  Our household includes Bill and Johanna (Dad and Mom) and three children:  Sasha, 11, who was adopted from Guatemala at age 7 1/2 months; Alex, 15, who was adopted from Ethiopia at age 6; and Habtamu, also 15, who was adopted at age 5 from the same children’s home in Ethiopia as Alex.   Our family also includes Bill’s daughter, Leah Golden, her husband, Russell, and their two children, Hadley and Anderson, who all live in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Our home is in Frostburg, Maryland,  in the westernmost part of the state.  Bill teaches Economics at Frostburg State University and is an avid columnist and blogger.  Johanna is at home full time, teaching Habtamu and Sasha, who are in 9th and 6th grades, respectively.  Alex is a freshman at Northern Garrett High School, where he plays soccer and generally enjoys himself.

Alex isn’t the only member of the family with hobbies.  Bill plays the violin and has been a long-term member of the Cumberland Choral Society.  He loves to ride his bike in the summer and  to cross-country ski in the winter.  Johanna loves to write, and  she plays the Irish penny whistle. Sasha is a ballerina, having  just finished her fourth performance of The Nutcracker with Appalachian Ballet Theater.  Habtamu played soccer for Calvary Christian Academy this past fall, and he’s currently doing indoor soccer at the Y.   Alex, Habtamu and Sasha are all gifted artists, and Leah—well, she’s pretty good at everything!

We can’t wait to add Dace to the bunch.  We can already see that she is a really smart, fun, loving girl.  It’s as though we have discovered a member of our family whom we didn’t know we had.  We are praying for her without ceasing.  Please join us and pray for Dace, too.

Bill & Johanna. It’s people like you who inspired us to start the Home For Good Foundation. My eyes filled with tears of compassion when I first saw Chris D’s photo of Dace and now they’re filled with tears of joy as I learn of your plans to adopt her. We rejoice with you as you bring her the Gospel and God’s love by living example. We’re glad to be a part of it.
